Bio Pastor Solomon Dees
Elder Solomon Dees was born in Camden, Alabama and was educated in the Alabama Public School District. He relocated to Albany, New York in 1956 and became a member of Wilborn Temple First Church of God in Christ in 1957.
In 1967, he was appointed Deacon by the late Bishop William Wilborn. While serving as Deacon, he received the call by God to preach the Gospel.
For over 30 years he has simultaneously served as President of the Trustee Board to which he was appointed in 1976 and as Sunday School Superintendent.
In 1995, he was ordained an Elder by the Late Bishop Ithiel Clemmons at which time the late Dr. Emmett H. Jeffress also appointment him as Assistant Pastor. After Dr. Jeffress was called home, Elder Dees was appointed as Pastor of Wilborn Temple on June 22, 2007 by Bishop James Gaylord.
Elder Dees has received several awards in connection with his professional career as cardio-vascular technician and currently still works part-time at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany, NY while serving the congregation of Wilborn Temple.
He has been married to Mother Nora Lee Dees for 49 years and is the father of two wonderful sons and the proud “Papa” of two grandchildren.
The church body has been blessed by his tremendous administrative and leadership skills. During his years of faithful service and leadership, he has spearheaded the restoration of the church building, including restoring the stained glass windows, rebuilding the skylight, installing a handicapped ramp and remodeling the upstairs sanctuary.
His is very grateful and considers it a privilege to have served under the tutelage of great leaders such as the late Bishop William Wilborn and Dr. Emmett H. Jeffress.
Above anything else, Pastor Solomon Dees is a preacher and teacher of the Word and is a Pastor according to the heart of God. His favorite verses are found in Romans 5:1 and Romans 8:1.
